When type meets physics, Christoph Schulz und Jens Schittenhelm decided to create a font that looks like it has been blown by the wind. I wouldn’t use that font in projects, but the whole research project is interesting.

Based on the illusion of the Penrose triangle, the type appears to be facing two different directions simultaneously. It plays with perspective in a way that makes the typeface look impossible. An excellent project by hungarian designer Martzi Hegedüs.

A project started by Korean graphic designer Yeohyun Ahn, he experiments with code-driven letter generation using the processing software. Via Designboom.

In this monotype typeface, the height of the letterforms is determined by how often a letter is used. This typeface maps the rhythmic ebb and flow of English.  Each letter sits in a 6 x 6 inch square, allowing for any combination of letters to run seamlessly both vertically and horizontally. What’s the best way to create unique typography? I bet you wouldn’t have thought of using your skin texture. This is what Bryan Stewart did, thus creating a typeface with a unique DNA.

Johnson Banks Design consultancy was commissioned to showcase 3D prototyping skills and technology for one of their clients. They had the good idea to use the theme of typography to do so. You can see the entire project on their blog.
