The Norwegian State Railways have a name that was made for logo designers: Vy. The designers at Snøhetta, the design studio selected to rebrand the company, played with it to create visuals that emulate the railway lines of Norway.

This new line-based logo will appear everywhere: exterior of new trains, electric cars, and buses, signage, business cards, website, and uniforms.

To complete this redesign, Snøhetta commissionned a custom typeface from
Göran Söderström, a type designer working at Letters from Sweden. The typeface is not entirely new, as it’s based on Lab Grotesque, but it was customized to include features that make it the perfect companion for the new corporate identity.
